Teaching across the Northeast's universities, I have a particular association since 1998 with Durham University and became an Honorary Entrepreneurship Fellow for the Business School in 2014.
While directing the graduate start up programme GLEAM, I submitted a case study which was cited in the Government's Denholm Report on higher education and also won the Rome 2007, European Training Foundation Best Practice Regional Award. I designed this graduate start up programme and delivered it for 10 years; spinning it out of the university freelance. An independent impact study reported that within a 5-year period 165 new businesses were launched, 200 new jobs created and £5m contributed into the local economy.
I have a well-grounded understanding of the issues surrounding graduate employability and the demand for graduates to be equipped to build portfolio careers. Hence, I have also developed interventions to support both academic staff and graduates to develop entrepreneurial leadership skills and competencies, to drive their futures and thrive within complex and changing environments.
Currently, I teach enterprise within the post graduate curriculum for the School of Engineering and Computer Science at Durham University. I am module advisor and teaching lead at Newcastle University; 'Medical Technology Innovation' in partnership with the Faculty of Medical Sciences (2014 ongoing).
I was also a member of the academic team, designing creating the new Global online MBA offering (2015), and now module leader for the 'Small Business Management and Marketing' (2015 ongoing).
Growth Coach: Europe, South East Asia, and the Middle East.
Over the last 20 years I have built an understanding of the needs of early-stage entrepreneurs, having trained over 5000 internationally. Recent years have seen me transfer this knowledge of entrepreneurship to grow SMEs and large organisations - enabling them to innovate on their biggest challenges.
I use my experience of successful incubators to inject lean approaches into the boardroom, rebooting innovation and building agile project frameworks across senior management teams.
